What's That Armor?

At least one of you wrote in and asked "What armor is that on the front page? How do you get it?"

The question is in reference to the dapper red Spartan who currently graces the main/about page at iHaloStats.com, seen here:

Our brave Spartan is wearing what is known as the Recon Armor. It is an armor permutation that is worn by Bungie employees and those members of the community they deem fit to wear it. In other words, there's nothing you can do in game to unlock it. To quote one of the Bungie Weekly Updates: "Don’t bother asking us for it. We’ll give it out based on good deeds and valuable community service and occasionally because they make us laugh... There will be plenty of occasions and reasons to get it. PM-ing and emailing us will not make any difference. But play nice and be a good sport and who knows?"
